The Sabbath vs Sunday
What is the correct appointed day for rest and worship? Many keep the first day of the week, or Sunday. What Bible authority do they have to do this? Some keep the seventh-day, or Saturday. What Bible authority do they have to do that?
The Following is some Bible truth about both days as plainly stated in the Word of Yahweh:
Bible Truth Concerning the seventh-day called Sabbath
- After six periods of time creating the heavens and the earth, the Sovereign Almighty Creator Yahweh ceased creation in the seventh period, ("yome" in Hebrew). (Genesis 2:1-3)
- This marked that period of time, a day (in Yahweh's time) for repose, for ceasing of His creation activity, a Sabbath. Sabbath means rest, to cease from normal labor activity. For Yahweh, the Creator of all things, time is "age-less" therefore these six periods may be composed of many millennium. The word "day" here is used as a figure of speech, as a time of indefinite duration, (compare with Gen. 2:4, Isa. 22:5, Heb. 3:8). But for man, who's time is "age-limited," and who's comprehension is limited, days are generally measured in 24 hour periods of time.
- The number seven is recognized in Hebrew as the number that signifies complete perfection, therefore the seventh-day must always be Yahweh's Sabbath, the day for repose, to cease normal labor, the day to remember creation as Yahweh's complete perfection.
- The Creator blessed the seventh-day (yome/day/time period), and set it apart. (Genesis 2:3)
- He sanctified the seventh. (Exodus 20:11)
- Yahshua says it was made for "the" man [Adam], that is, it was made for the man's well-being. The man was not made for the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27)
- It is a memorial of Yahweh's creation. (Exodus 20:11; 31:17) Every time we repose by observing the seventh-day, we commemorate that grand event that consummates Yahweh's creation.
- The Sabbath was given to Adam, the head of the Adamic race. (Mark 2:27)
- It is not some Jewish institution, and has nothing to do with Jews. The Sabbath was declared as a set-apart day over 4,500 years before there were a Jews.
- It is called "the Sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim." Israelites should be very cautious if they attempt to criticize, or minimize Yahweh's set-apart day for repose.
- Reference is made to the time period of seven's all through the patriarchal age. (Genesis 2:1-3; 8:10, 12; 29:27, 28, etc.)
- It was a part of Yahweh's law before Sinai. (Exodus 16:4, 27-30 )

- Yahweh has never given permission to any man to do normal labor on it.
- No believer of the New Testament, either before or after the resurrection, did ordinary labor on the seventh-day Sabbath. Why should modern believers do differently?
- There is no record that Yahweh has ever removed His blessing or sanctification from the seventh-day Sabbath.
- The seventh-day Sabbath was an important part of the law of Yahweh, since it came from His own mouth, and was written by Him on stone at Sinai. (See Exodus 20). - Yahshua condemned the Pharisees as hypocrites for pretending to love Yahweh, while at the same time they made void one of the Ten Commandments by their tradition. The keeping of Sunday, the first day is a tradition made by man.
